I spent my life growing up as a military brat primarily in Europe and speak Italian, French and some German. My greatest influence in life was my father as he constantly espoused the virtues of fitness and practiced what he preached – he even ran a marathon when he was 45.
I attained a bachelors degree in PE with an emphasis in training from ASU in Tempe, Arizona. From there I ended up in Bozeman, Montana because a friend told me there were a lot of very affluent people mooving there that were focused on health and fitness.
Generally, I visit my clients in their homes because most of them have home gyms and fitness areas. It’s great working out at a clients house because of the privacy and the fact that it removes the health club dynamic and it is much more relaxed.
I hope to own my own customized traning facility someday. We could have all of the top-end resistance equipment and create very customized training and dietary plans, plus we could carry heart rate monitor watches, fitness assessment programs, specialized clothing and more.

Hello Lisa,
I’m curious, which of the heart rate monitors would you recommend for serious distance training & racing? I have to say it’s a bit difficult to follow some of the reviews listed, as it appears they were written in a different language and then translated by computer.
I saw a watch at a race that recorded heart rate along with distance and altitude and then could be downloaded on a computer for analysis. But I don’t recall which brand it was.
As a tongue-in-cheek comment, you mentioned your father ran a marathon at the age of 45 as if that is old to be doing that. While his running a marathon is fantastic, and I hope he continued to run distance races, 45 is not considered old in the marathon world.
Thanks for your input on the HR watches.

Hi Lisa, Great blog! Anything that will help people get out and stay active is a good thing! Keep up the good work.
Hi Lisa, if you visit my site you’ll learn that we share a common bond in fitness, sports performance and more notably heart rate training. I have been administering VO2 max tests for nearly two decades and have developed a pretty interesting approach to endurance training from my experience. Also visit http://www.mybestrace.com. I would love to do a link exchange with you and provide my insights upon request.
Cheers-
Richard
